Full Job Description

As Engineering Manager for Product & Platform you own how we turn ideas into robust, scalable products. You lead a small group of product & forward-deployed engineers and take end-to-end responsibility for technical decisions, delivery and quality across core parts of our customer-facing portal and the underlying platform. You act as the bridge between Engineering, Product, Data and Operations, ensuring we solve real problems for owners and tenants while building systems that we can reliably run and extend for years.

Aufgaben

  • Lead and develop a small engineering team, including 1:1s, feedback, coaching and performance management.
  • Own planning and delivery for key Product & Platform initiatives, breaking complex work into realistic milestones and managing trade-offs between speed and quality.
  • Review and challenge technical and architectural decisions in a modern web stack (e.g. TypeScript / Node / React, cloud, microservices) and ensure solid standards for testing, code quality, CI/CD and observability.
  • Work closely with Product and Data to translate business goals and KPIs into technical priorities, and align stakeholders on scope, risks and decisions.
  • Act as main technical counterpart for external partners (agencies, external squads) and ensure we can understand, own and evolve any code delivered to hallo theo.

Qualifikation

Preferred Background

  • 5–8+ years of professional experience in software engineering
  • 2–4+ years in a lead or manager role (Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or Tech Lead with people responsibility)
  • Hands-on experience with modern web technologies (e.g. TypeScript, Node.js, React, cloud environments, APIs, microservices)
  • Proven track record leading agile teams and owning delivery for product or platform initiatives
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design and integration topics
  • Experience hiring, coaching and running performance and feedback conversations with engineers
  • Comfortable collaborating with Product and Data using goals, KPIs and experiments to guide decisions
  • German typically at C1 level for working with our customers and teams; for truly exceptional profiles we can be more flexible
  • Very good English for day-to-day collaboration

Nice to have

  • Background in B2B SaaS, platform products, subscriptions, payments or similar complex domains
  • Experience working with and integrating externally built systems (agencies, external squads) and bringing them into internal ownership
  • Experience building or evolving shared platforms, APIs or design systems used by multiple product teams
  • Previous involvement in scaling an engineering organisation from an early stage
